www.radarroysbuyersguide.com - Radar Roy interviews Ron Gividen from Escort Radar about their new Passport GPS photo enforcment detector at the 2009 SEMA automotive show in Las Vegas Nevada.
At ESCORT, they’re continually improving their line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Their latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story….
To be a top performing radar detector, the detector must balance several aspects of performance concurrently, namely: sensitivity, selectivity, quickness, and dynamic range. In this particular situation the Whistler XTR-695SE, I suspect, sniffed out either very weak constant-on Ka or weak instant-on Ka from either behind or from the side road as we proceed under the overpass of an intersecting highway. At the time of the recording, 34.7Ghz Ka IO (instant-on) was heavily being used on this stretch of road. Both though the Beltronics sti-R and the Escort Passport 9500ci are clearly more sensitivity detectors all around, these value-priced Whistlers are quicker in alerting to radar sources, which can make theme appear more sensitive, when they are not necessarily, just quicker. These kinds of performance showings would be similar to each of the three new SE models being introduced to the marketplace: Whister Pro-78 SE, Whistler XTR-690 SE, Whistler XTR-695 SE. The duration of this encounter has included a sufficiently long approach and departure from the alert point to establish a better context of performance. No other alerts occurred on any of the detectors during this run, except for the ones documented/recorded. Full review of the new Whistler SE detectors: www.laserveil.com
In this video I have a V1 Radar Detector vs Passport 8500 not the X50 Model. The V1 is in A Mode and the Passport is in Highway Mode. I am driving towards a K Band Speed Board then I make a U turn and head back driving past the board and testing the radar detectors range when the radar is coming from behind. … “Valentine 1″ “V1 Radar” “Valentine One” “K Band” “Speed Board” Radar “Radar Detector” Escort “Passport 8500″ “Escort Radar”
AutoWeek’s Dionna Berry talks with Escort CEO John Larson about the newest product from the radar detector leader. Escort released the Passport 9400IX in September ’08, the first radar detector that has an “auto learn” feature. The Passport has the ability to eliminate any false signals that have plagued radars for year and will be sure to keep Escort on top. This video is an urban radar detector test shot in a suburb of Chicago. The Passport 9500i is running in Highway mode with the GPS filter OFF. This is the most sensitive setting the unit has. I have applied the latest firmware from ESCORT. The detection range is approximately 5900 - 6000 feet. Compared to the RMR-C475 it has the same range, or even slightly less. I can’t believe it either. … Escort Passport 9500i radar detector Rocky Mountain Radar C-475 C-450 C-435 …
